Integrated senior living development Eden at Botanica CT (EABC) has entered into a strategic collaboration with AIA Pension and Asset Management (APAM) to promote better retirement preparedness by combining financial planning with age-friendly living solutions.
The collaboration aims to encourage Malaysians to begin planning for retirement earlier by integrating private retirement savings with a purpose-built senior living community, offering a more holistic approach to life after retirement.
Speaking at the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony, representatives from both organisations said the partnership reflects the growing need for long-term financial security alongside quality healthcare and supportive living environments as Malaysia's ageing population continues to increase.
They noted that retirement planning today extends beyond accumulating savings, and should also include access to suitable housing, wellness programmes, healthcare support and community engagement to ensure a more fulfilling retirement lifestyle.
Under the collaboration, eligible purchasers of units at Eden at Botanica CT will receive a RM25,000 investment into an APAM Private Retirement Scheme (PRS) fund, sponsored by the developer, together with complimentary personal accident insurance to strengthen their financial protection after retirement.
Eden at Botanica CT, currently under development in Botanica.CT, Balik Pulau, is expected to be completed in 2027. The project will feature fully furnished residences, 24-hour care services, licensed nursing support, wellness programmes, smart assisted-living technologies and planned healthcare facilities designed to support independent ageing.
EABC director and MTT Group chairman Datuk Seri Ong Kian Lee said the project is intended to redefine retirement living by creating an environment where older adults can remain active, socially connected and independent while having access to professional care whenever required.
"Our vision is to create more than just a residential development. We want to build a complete ecosystem that empowers seniors to enjoy a healthier, safer and more meaningful retirement," he said.
Industry observers believe collaborations between property developers and financial institutions will become increasingly important as Malaysia prepares for an ageing society, helping individuals plan not only for their retirement finances but also for the lifestyle and care they may require in later years.
